Youth Tour

Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson inspired the Youth Tour when he addressed the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Annual Meeting in Chicago in 1957. The Senator and future president declared, "If one thing goes out of this meeting, it will be sending youngsters to the national capital where they can actually see what the flag stands for and represents."

Marathon Water Heaters

Have you looked at your water heater lately? Probably not. But if you did, it would probably be telling you something. Green Power

Green Power is electricity generated from environmentally friendly and renewable resources such as wind, solar and water among others.

The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas have always taken our role as environmental stewards seriously. To that end, over the last two decades we have invested approximately $330 million - more than one third of our capital investment in generation capacity - to develop renewable energy sources in the form of hydropower plants on the Arkansas River.

Energy Audits

Home Energy Calculator imageIt's hard to believe how all those small air leaks and inadequate insulation levels in your home can add up to big electric bills during the summer and winter months.

That's why Mississippi County Electric offers its members a free home energy audit to help you discover those small leaks that increase your summer cooling and winter heating bills beyond what they should be.

What is Demand

"Demand" is the total amount of electricity being used by a consumer at any one time. Demand varies from hour to hour, day to day and season to season. This usage, which is expressed in kilowatts (not kilowatt hours) is called the "demand" on the system. Mississippi County Electric monitors demand over a 15 minute period on rate 3, large commercial and 60 minute period on rate 11, industrial.
